Phyllis D. Twitchell, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Pleasant View Center in Concord, NH. She was born on February 1, 1925 in Lynn, MA to Warren and Thelma P. Daniels. One of five sisters, Phyllis grew up in Lynn, MA, Manchester, and Gorham, NH. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1946, where she received a degree in English Literature. Phyllis was married to Frederick “Bud” Twitchell in 1946 until his death in 1982. Phyllis was a homemaker for many years. In addition she worked for the 1960 U.S. Census documenting the last homes in Gorham with no indoor plumbing. An avid reader, Phyllis shared her love of books with town residents as the assistant librarian at the Gorham Public Library. She then held various positions within the Gorham School District. After retiring she moved to Plymouth, NH and lived there for many years. She became active in the Plymouth Senior Center and enjoyed many friends and neighbors at Plymouth Terrace. Phyllis’ greatest joy was spending time with her family and especially looked forward to the biannual “Daniels Family Reunion” that brings together the extended families of she and her sisters. The 2013 reunion will be in her memory. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, and her sisters Barbara Gregory and Patricia Dinardo. Phyllis is survived by her children, Susan Legate and her husband Fred of West Barnstable MA, Sandra Ramsay of Concord, NH, Neil Twitchell and his husband Alan of Center Barnstead, NH and Sarah Roy and her husband Art of Panama City, FL; her sisters Carole “Bunny” Traynor of Ft. Pierce, FL and Judy Currier of Sanford, ME; her six grandchildren, Traci, Amy, Jennifer, Abigail, Cody and Kyle and five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Phyllis’ name to Pease Public Library, 1 Russell Street in Plymouth, NH 03264.
